Willow looked from Tara, to the guy, then back at Tara again. Then she blinked before blinking some more. "He asked you out," Willow began slowly. "Yeah," Tara nodded, studying Willow carefully. She hadn't seen her girlfriend this confused in awhile. "And you told him that for an answer," Willow continued, fighting the smirk spreading on her features. "What?" demanded Tara, blushing now. Ducking her head, her blonde locks fell, obscuring her pretty face. "I had to tell him something right? I think that was a good enough explanation, don't you? It got him to back off." "Back off?" repeated Willow with a frown. Her green eyes narrowed slightly and she asked, "Has he been bothering you? Because if he has..." The redhead held up her fists and made boxing gestures. "I move like a butterfly and I can sting like so many bees. And without dying too." "Willow," Tara laughed softly, her voice moving into that husky tone that made shivers run down the other girl's spine. "It's all right. He's not that bad, really." "Uh huh," said Willow, still frowning as she located and glared at the guy who asked Tara out. "You won't be all weird now, will you?" pursued Tara, watching Willow closely. "I won't be weird," Willow promised. She was boring her eyes intensely into the young man, convinced if she did it long enough, his head would explode then she'd never have to see him on campus again. "I'm not weird." Heaving a gentle sigh, Tara reached out to hold Willow's chin. "You're being weird," she informed. "I know," said Willow in a pathetic whine. "But I can't help it. He asked you out and he's seen us acting all cutesy and coupley and holding handsly and--" "And I told him no," Tara interrupted quietly. "That's what matters, not the fact that he asked me out despite knowing we're a couple." Dipping her head she smiled and said, "I did give him that explanation too." "Oh yeah," Willow chuckled, rolling her eyes. "The explanation... somehow I doubt that will keep him away." "I don't see what was wrong with it," said Tara rather huffily, pulling away from Willow, looking upset. "I think that it was a fine metaphor myself." "Tara," Willow kept chuckling as she pulled her girlfriend back into her arms. Resting her chin on the top of the other girl's shoulder, she murmured, "I love you, you know I do. But..." She shook her head and smiled widely. "Saying you're 'gay as stick' is just not a good explanation for why you can't go out with a guy." "Fine," Tara huffed, seeming less upset as she snuggled back into Willow's arms. "But it still worked." "Yeah," said Willow, her eyes trailing across the campus to lock on the form of the aforementioned guy who paled on seeing her glare. "It worked." "Good, because I am you know," said Tara. "You're what?" asked Willow, moving her attention back to her girlfriend, where it belonged. "Gay as stick," Tara revealed with a wry smile. "Ohhh," Willow chuckled. "Me too." -End-
